Fabric Recommendations:
OUTER: medium weight fabrics like twill or denim, wool, any coating fabric, crinkle polyester, laminates, oil cloth, pleather. Look for waterproof or water resistant treated fabrics for a raincoat and windbreaker.
LINING: I strongly recommend light weight fabrics (specially if you are using a heavy fabric such as a laminate) such as a polyester or acetate, or the poncho can get very heavy. You can also use athletic mesh, very light weight cottons, fleece as lining.
Notions:
– For lighter fabrics I recommend some INTERFACING- specially for the front facing where the snaps go.
– If you want a fully waterproof raincoat you can seal your seam with SEALING TAPE.
– SNAPS at least 1cm (3/8”) wide. If you are using a thicker fabric such as a laminate I recommend some sturdy snaps. Your shoemaker might be a good source!
