The Pudding Pants PDF Pattern is a relaxed fit knit pants pattern, rockin’ three different hem options, drawstring waistband, solid pants or color-blocked with pockets, as well as optional pin-tucking. Make them as vivid or monotone as you want; for boys AND girls from toddler 12/18M all the way up to 15/16Y!

Fabric Recommendations:

MAIN FABRICS: Light to medium weight knit fabric with at least 40% stretch recovery: cotton or cotton blend jersey, knit interlock, sweater knit.

CONTRAST FABRICS: Ribbing, jersey with at least 75% stretch recovery. If you are using a knit fabric with less stretch recovery, add about 1/2″-3/4″ (1-2cm) to the pattern piece. Do not use fabric with less than 30% stretch recovery.

Notions:

・ ballpoint/stretch size 80 needle
・ 1.5 – 2 yards ( ̃1.3-1.8 meters) twill tape, cording, or *sewn ties・ 1 yard of 1.25” wide elastic ( ̃3cm) (sports elastic works best.)・ scraps of lightweight interfacing for buttonholes
・ a bodkin for pulling elastic or safety pin
・ stretch twin needle for pin-tucks (1/8″ or ̃3mm wide)

Meet your new, “go to” pants pattern!  The Pudding Pants are going to be your kids new favorite pants. An easy sewing project with some strikingly cool looks, that couldn’t be comfier! Get ready to fall in love with all the different looks you can make: the color-blocked version has built-in pockets; the solid version is just quick and simple. Love the pockets but don’t want to do two different fabrics? You can achieve a “non color-blocked” look by sewing the contrast version with the same fabrics! There are also three different hem options: regular hem, contrast ankle cuff, or rolled cuff plus optional pin-tucking (I am a huge fan of making them with the pin-tucks!) Time to pull out your best knits from your stash and start making some Pudding Pants!
