From Season 12 of Project Run & Play, we bring you Jess of Gracious Threads Puffin Vest first seen in her Casual Toddler Style look for the Pokemon Challenge.
The Puffin Vest features a front zip, curved hem, contrast yoke, patch pockets with trim and snaps, and an optional detachable hood. The vest is perfect in prequilted fabric, or quilt your own using the instructions included in the tutorial.
PREQUILTED NYLON FABRIC
OUTER FABRIC: rip stop nylon, lightweight non stretch twill, denim or corduroy.
BATTING: medium loft polyester (eg, thinsulate) is suggested. Regular fleece can also be used if batting is not available.
SCRIM: this refers to the material that backs the batting to prevent it from getting destroyed by the feet dogs and presser foot. A lightweight non woven interfacing or a old thin sheet both work well. If you are using regular fleece, this layer is not necessary.
LINING FABRIC: polyester lining, lightweight flannel or other lightweight cotton.
CONTRAST FABRIC: faux leather, suede, or any other medium weight non stretch fabric
separating ZIPPER with plastic or metal teeth (not a coil zipper)
1/2” metal SNAPS (7 sets for view A, 2 sets for view B). Plastic KAM snaps or metal prong snaps work if your fabric is not too bulky.
optional: spray basting adhesive if you are quilting your own fabric
