From the Designer Capsule #7, we are delighted to present the Passport to Paradise Mini Backpack pattern by Kari of That’s Sew Kari. This pattern is exactly the bag pattern you’ve been waiting for!
Pattern Features:
Passport to Paradise is a mini backpack featuring a top, zippered closure, adjustable back straps, and front pocket with a removable wallet, perfectly sized to fit a passport. There is also an optional interior pocket to help keep organized.
Fabric Recommendations:
Woven cotton material such as quilter’s cotton, linen, duck cloth, twill, etc.
Notions:
Iron-on interfacing: Pellon 808 Craft Fuse suggested for normal fabrics for firm finish on Mini Backpack; midweight interfacing suggested for heavier
fabrics or for a softer finish on normal fabrics. Midweight interfacing recommended for wallet.
16” (40.5 cm) of size 5 zipper tape for main zipper; 9” (23 cm) size 5 zipper tape for passport wallet; or equivalent premade zippers
(3) size 5 zipper pulls (2 for main zipper, 1 for wallet)
(2) 1” (25mm) connector rings (D-ring, oval or rectangle)
(2) 1” (25mm) slider buckles
Optional: (2) ½” (12mm) D-rings and (1) 1.5” – 1.9” (38mm – 48mm) carabiner clip (or equivalent) for attaching the wallet
Optional: 1” (25 mm) webbing material in lieu of handmade straps (2 yds)
