From the Designer Capsule #7, we are delighted to present the Rimini Romper pattern by Ajaire of Call Ajaire.  This pattern has so many options that the hardest part is going to be choosing which one to make first!

Pattern Features:

The Rimini Romper is a stylish one-piece with a fitted top and four views for the bottoms: romper, jumpsuit, above the knee length dress, and an on-trend midi length dress. This pattern, meant for knit fabrics, boasts a top that is designed with princess seams that begin at the shoulder to offer a unique style line, colorblocking opportunity, and ultimately a great fit between the chest and waist.

Fabric Recommendations:

knit fabrics with at least 50% two􀀂way stretch and good recovery such as cotton/lycra, interlock, french terry, bamboo terry, double brushed poly, bullet, ponte, and jersey.  The fit and drape will differ depending on the stretch and recovery of the fabrics, so if using a knit with greater than 50% horizontal stretch and/or vertical stretch, it’s best to muslin before cutting into the final fabric.

Notions:

optional snaps and scraps of interfacing for diaper snap panel

Sizes:

Newborn – 16

Skill level:

Confident Beginner

Pattern Information:

The Rimini Romper is a stylish one-piece with a fitted top and four views for the bottoms: romper, jumpsuit, above the knee length dress, and an on-trend midi length dress. This pattern, meant for knit fabrics, boasts a top that is designed with princess seams that begin at the shoulder to offer a unique style line, colorblocking opportunity, and ultimately a great fit between the chest and waist.

The romper has a flared culotte style bottom, whereas the jumpsuit has a more fitted shape through the hip. The two skirt bottoms have a faux wrap look and a slight flare at the side seams. All four views have the option of bodice flounces, pockets, and front ties. The pockets for the jumpsuit are inset and add an extra spot for colorblocking, while the romper/dress pockets are inseam and hidden.

With no closures, the fit is snug enough to hold the bodice in place, yet the shoulder straps stretch in order to remove the garment with ease. It is important to refer to the Recommended Fabrics section to choose a fabric that has the correct amount of stretch and great recovery, but depending on the fabric this pattern can easily go from casual to an elegant special occasion piece (ie: a fun cotton lycra print vs a sleek and refined ponte).
